The story

Where the ladder starts

Moto3 began in 2012, when 250cc four-strokes replaced the 125cc two-strokes. It is the bottom class of the world championship: Moto3, then Moto2, then MotoGP. It races on the same weekends as MotoGP.

Two makers, KTM and Honda, build the bikes in 2026. The engines are 250cc four-strokes.

Argentina is not on the 2026 calendar and is due back in 2027. Qatar was postponed from April to November, and Portugal and Valencia each moved a week later.

Good to know

  • Two makers today

    KTM and Honda build every Moto3 bike in 2026. The engines are 250cc four-strokes.

  • Brazil is back

    The Brazilian round returns in 2026, the first since 2004.

  • Qatar moved to November

    The Qatar round moved from April to 6-8 November because of the Middle East situation. Portugal and Valencia each moved a week later.
