The story

Day and night in the Ardennes

The 24 Hours of Spa is a race for GT3 sports cars on the 7.004 km Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the Belgian Ardennes. It starts on a Saturday afternoon and ends 24 hours later. Crews share each car and race through the night.

The Royal Automobile Club of Belgium organised the first 24-hour race in 1924. The modern race began in 1964. Today it is the Endurance Cup round of GT World Challenge Europe and also counts for the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

In numbers

  • 5Wins by one driver: Eric van de Poele holds the record, with wins in 1987, 1998, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
  • 7.004 kmTrack length: The race uses the full Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the Belgian Ardennes.
  • 1979Circuit halved: Before 1979 the race used a road circuit of about 14 km. Since 1979 it has used a course of about 7 km.
