The story

Twelve hours on an old airfield

The 12 Hours of Sebring is a sports car endurance race in Florida. Prototypes and GT cars share the track for twelve hours, from afternoon into night. The track is a former Second World War airfield, and old concrete runway sections are still part of the lap.

The first race at the track was a six-hour event in 1950. The first 12-hour race followed in March 1952. In 1959 the track also hosted a Formula One World Championship race, the United States Grand Prix. Today the 12 Hours is a round of the IMSA championship.
