The story

Ten hours to end the season

Petit Le Mans is a 10-hour sports car race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, a 12-turn road course in Georgia. It is the last round of the IMSA season. The first race was held in 1998, when the Automobile Club de l'Ouest lent the Le Mans name to the track's owner, Don Panoz.

That first race ran for 1,000 miles or 10 hours, whichever came first. It led to the American Le Mans Series the next year. Several classes of car share the track, so faster and slower cars meet in traffic all day and into the evening.
