The story

A winter test in the Alps

The Rallye Monte-Carlo began in 1911 as a drive to Monaco from several places in Europe. In 1973 it was the first round of the new World Rally Championship. Today it starts and finishes in Monaco, with timed stages on mountain roads in between.

It is run in January. The Col de Turini, a mountain pass behind Monaco, is its best-known stage. In 2027 the rally opens the World Rally Championship season again.
